I let my fingers drift across Jim's forehead and smile to myself. The big doof dropped down in the seat on the plane and was asleep even before I had a chance to sit down.
We're leaving Greece. We're going home to Cascade, and things will definitely never be the same again.
I'm actually looking forward to it.
I'm looking forward to see Simon's face when he finds out we're bound to each other for life, I'm looking forward to hearing Connor's teasing voice as she congratulates us, and - God help me - I'm looking forward to Mom's stuttering when I tell her the next time we speak on the phone.
I know a lot of people won't approve. But strangely, I don't give a fuck. Because I've got Jim. For life. And that means more than anything to me. I love the big dork, and that's not gonna change. Ever. I hope he realizes how lucky I am to have him, how much I love him and cherish him and how wonderful he is to me.
I'm proud of him. I wanna show him to the world - and I wanna stick my tongue out to all the homophobic bastards I know we will run into sooner or later. Hey, who said I wasn't allowed to be childish every now and then? Okay, not just every now and then, but pretty much all the time, but - hey - I don't hear Jim complaining... All that much! So I think I'll just stick with being myself.
No use changing for anybody - not even for Jim. Because he likes me just the way I am. He *loves* me just the way I am.
And I love him back.
We're leaving Greece after the best two weeks of my life, we're bound together - not by marriage, but by something much stronger; pure love and trust. We're in love with each other and with life. We're going home. Together.
Nothing will ever be the same again.
