"Victorious"
by Kieren

"It'll see us through. Or carry us through together" The words kept playing on his mind. Had he said them? Or Jim? He forced himself to open his eyes. His heart almost failed him. He was home. On the loft, their bed, Jim lying next to him.

"A nightmare?"

No, he knew nightmares too well. Besides he recognized the dreamscape - he had been in the spiritual world. And all he could think of was... a vague image of his mother at the very last moment, sending Blair and Jim back to safety. He was sure Jim wouldn't remember a thing. In fact as he took in his surroundings it seemed to him they had never left.

"Jim?"

"Chief?"

"I think we may have shared some kind of hallucination..."

"If your mother was in it..."

"She was. But before, the other... I mean, do you remember the pain? The humiliation?"

"Yes, all of it. Why? Was this some kind of prophetic dream? Was it symbolic?"

"Hey, Big Guy, I'm still the Professor here, remember?"

Blair played with his hands over Jim's chest. "I suppose those are the questions, yes."

"Does that mean you don't know the answers?" "I think I do - funnily enough"

"Trust you to see things like that..."

"Will you just up for a couple of minutes and listen?"

"Sure, Chief. Shoot."

"It was a test in a dream within a Spiritland. To test our bond. And I suspect we've passed."

"I won't understand it in any more detail, so that's OK - but are you sure we... did good?"

"Oh yeah. We did like, way beyond good."

"I didn't like feeling powerless."

"You never were. Love sustained our connection, even if it didn't look or feel like that at the time..."

"So this was merely spiritual, out of this world?"

"I wouldn't say 'merely' if I was you. Might tempt whoever to have another go... Come here, big guy. We've passed with flying colors. Now let me see them on your face, on your body...

"Blair! God I missed touching you, I missed your touch. Your real touch."

"Let's make love and rainbows then, partner. Feeling up to it?"

"Certainly up."

"That's my Jimmy-boy..."

'Was That All It Was?' plays as background music from who-knows-where
