"Even More Unexpected"

Dar was fastened in a deep liplock with his pale, blond mate. Pulling away, he gently tipped Voden's chin up and looked straight into his eyes. "Now, when I get back, both of you had better be in one piece, got it?"

"Yes."

"Good." He gave the younger man one last kiss and left the sleeping area. As he started to enter the forest, though, Tao ran up and grabbed him by the arm.

"Dar, you are *not* leaving me here by myself with that psycopath!" The Eiron hissed out in a whisper so Voden wouldn't hear.

"Tao, you know I wouldn't knowingly put you in danger. I'm completely confident he'll behave himself while I'm gone."

"He hates me, Dar."

Dar looked amused. "He doesn't exactly hate you, and he's nowhere near as jealous of you as he used to be."

"Even so..."

"I'll see you in a few days." He pulled Tao off of his arm.

"Dar, wait!"

"Bye, Tao." And with that Dar and Ruh walked off into the forest.

"Dar!!" he called out one last time in exasperation. "Crap." He muttered to himself. He turned around to see the psycho himself staring at him. No, actually, he was staring past him at Dar's retreating figure. Tao walked past him, wanting as little interaction with the Nord as possible. And so they spent the first couple of days completely ignoring each other.

Sometime in the late afternoon of the third day, Tao noticed Voden bent over by the fire pit. Curious, he moved closer and saw that the blond was skinning a rabbit.

"I get tired of not eating meat," Voden said as Tao walked up. "Do you want some?"

Blinking in surprise, Tao responded, "Um, sure! Actually, I could cook that into a stew if you want."

Voden thought for a moment, then nodded.

"Great! Just let me go get some vegetables, I'll be right back."

Tao returned with a clay pot full of water and the promised vegetables, along with his herb pouch and a couple of bowls. Voden had already finished skinning and cutting up the animal, and was starting the fire. Tao put the meat in the pot, and started to slice a tuber.

"Do you need help with that?" Voden asked once the fire was going.

*Why is he being so nice?* Tao wondered. "Um, no, I've got it, thanks," he said, "Well, actually, could you get some cilantro out of my pouch?"

"I don't know anything about herbs. What does it look like?"

"It's dark green, and has splayed leaves." At that moment, the ferrets decided to show up and grab themselves a snack. "Kodo, Podo! That's not for you. Shoo! Kodo, come back here with that!"

Voden looked through the pouch and found something that matched the description Tao gave him. "I found it," he called out.

"Go ahead and put it in the pot," Tao replied, as he managed to get a hold of one of the little bandits.

In spite of the furry pests, they got the food prepared. Then they sat in silence on opposite sides of the fire as it cooked. It was an uneasy quiet for Tao, though Voden didn't seem to mind. He busied himself by playing with the ferrets. Tao just watched, perplexed. He was used to the evil Voden. He didn't know what to make of this passive, quiet stranger who looked like the former Nord king.

Finally the stew was ready, and the silence continued as they ate. At first Tao didn't notice anything out of the ordinary- he was just happy to be eating something that actually had *meat* in it. About halfway through he realized that something didn't taste right, and he frowned.

"Is something wrong?" Voden asked.

"Show me the herb you put in the pot."

Voden complied, pulling out what was left of the leafy bunch. Tao's bowl dropped from suddenly unresponsive fingers.

"That was the wrong one then?" It wasn't a question.

"Um, yeah. That's an ingredient for a salve. You're not really supposed to eat it."

"Is it poisonous?" Voden was trying to keep his customary calm demeanor, but the was a touch of fear in his voice and in his eyes.

"Not exactly."

"What do you mean not-oh!" A sudden heat swept through his body, and he broke out into a sweat. Looking over at Tao, he could see that the Eiron was similarly affected, a flush darkening his features. For a moment Tao just sat, his hands firmly planted on the ground beside him as he took long, deep breaths. Suddenly the scholar determinately crossed his legs. Voden knew why- he could feel his own sex hardening, and the man across from him whom he already found attractive suddenly became irresistible.

He moved over to kneel next to the dark haired Eiron, and placing a gentle hand on the side of his cheek, planted a warm open-mouthed kiss on Tao's ear. Tao gasped in pleasure as Voden's hot, moist tongue explored all the contours it could find. This lasted for what seemed an eternity until Tao turned his head to accept a full, deep kiss from the Nord. As their tongues intertwined, Voden slowly moved his hand fron Tao's face, down his neck, then chest, slipping to his stomach, then pausing a moment before sliding over the fabric at the crotch of the Eiron's pants, and slowly rubbing the covered erection. Tao gasped, and for the first time, lifted a hand from the floor to cover the one that was touching him so intimately. Then he pulled the hand away and climbed into Voden's lap. They eagerly wrapped their arms around each other, and the blond fell forward on top of Tao, pushing him into the ground and grinding their hips together in wild abandon. The normally reserved scholar made strangled moans at the intensity of the physical sensation as Voden released his lips only to move down to his neck, not slowing his pace in the least. Tao's hands wormed their way under Voden's white shirt and the Nord lifted his arms so that Tao could push it off. Then he returned the favor and divested his new lover of his tunic, as well. Excited by the increased contact of skin against skin, they clutched tightly at one another and returned to their fevered kisses. Spurred on by desire they worked on removing the rest of their clothing, kicking off their boots and squirming out of their pants.

All barriers removed, they rolled around on the ground, unable to get enough of each other. The persistent rubbing of their cocks together finally did Tao in. "Ah! Voden! Ungh, AAAHHH!!!" he cried out in orgasm. Voden took a little longer but he eventually came with a low moan, gasping a barely audible 'Dar' at the end. They lay together panting from the exertion, and gradually they fell asleep in each other's arms.

***********************

As Tao woke in the early morning, he slowly became aware of several things. First, he felt like crap. Second, he was butt-ass nekkid and freezing. And he was pretty sure the person lying on top of him wasn't female. In fact, it was Voden. "AAAUUGH!!!" Tao yelled and rolled out from under the other man. The blond watched groggily as Tao hastily gathered his clothes and ran down to the nearest stream.

Tao jumped in, not caring for the cold. He couldn't believe it. He'd been with another man, and it was Voden, for crying out loud! Maybe he could've handled waking up next to Dar, but this was too much. He took several calming breaths, then made sure all traces of sweat and cum were washed away from his body. *Calm down, Tao, it was an accident, just a stupid accident* he admonished himself.

Still, it was a while before he could go back. When he did, Voden had already gotten dressed and rebuilt the fire. He sat motionless with his arms wrapped around his knees, staring blankly in front of him.

"Dar's going to kill me," Voden said softly as Tao sat down next to the fire to warm himself.

"I-It wasn't your fault. I didn't give you a very good description, and I didn't check to make sure you had the right herb before you put it in. Besides, I'm not going to say anything about it to Dar."

"You don't have to. He left the ferrets to keep an eye on me while he was gone."

Then Tao noticed Kodo and Podo looking intently at them with their beady little eyes. Oh crap. Voden was right- the were both going to be in very hot water when the Beastmaster got back.

Tao sighed and sunk his face into his hands. It was going to be a very long day for both of them.
